Blog Post Marc Coleman

Marc Coleman the writer of the article Review of Bottlemania: How water went on sale and why we bought it. In this article he is appealing to everyone in the United State who drinks water whether it is out of a tap or bottled water. He appeals to them by giving information about bottled water and tap water and how each one has its flaws. The rhetorical element that Marc Coleman uses the most would be logos. He starts out giving statistics on how American citizens over the years are drinking more and more water. He later then talks about Elizabeth Royte who has introduced the concept of Bottlemania. I believe this argument is very affective.  The author is a very credible writer and he brings up many points that are valid and make you think, why I drink bottled water when 89 percent of tap water in the United States of America meets or exceeds federal health and safety regulations. I believe this argument is very effective because he brings up goof points with logic to back it up. It makes me wonder why my family uses water bottles when we have a perfectly fine lake and water filter to purify our water.

Response Blog, Bitman

In Bittman’s article about taking food seriously, he is speaking to the entire world. He is speaking to every human because everyone needs to consume food and water to survive. His article argues that people need to learn to start eating healthier and learn from the mistakes that people started to make in the 1950’s, like eating out more and “devouring food that was worse and worse”.  Bittman uses fascinating statistics, logic and reasoning to appeal to his audience.  He captures his audience’s attention by using so many facts.  It leaves the audience with a sense of reassurance, knowing that they can trust in the words that Bittman says in his article. The rhetorical element that stands out the most in this article is logos.  He uses many statistics and facts throughout the piece, but he never really references where he gets his information from.  Even though he uses no references, he still manages to gain the audience’s trust. This argument is very effective because he makes valid points.  He makes these valid points in his concluding paragraphs. He answers all questions that the reader may have like how to fix the problem, why the problem has occurred, and how the problem affects the whole world.

Rhetorical Analysis Movie

My paper used a large amount of pathos. There is a lot of emotion displayed when describing a action packed movie that has twists and turns throughout the movie. The audience to this paper would be anyone that is a movie fan or critic whether they are young or old. I believe this argument is an effective one because many points in this movie appeal to our generation with explosions and action packed scenes. People now a days only get excited for movie like this and in my paper I showed many points why it was an effective argument.

A War on Christmas By: Melanie Springer Mock

The audience of this piece about the separation of church and state, and the war on Christmas is directed to two different audiences. I believe the author is making this argument to Christian people and also the government and its wide variety of different organizations. Melanie Mock appeals to the Christian crowd by saying that the focus of Christians should be on the real manager. They should be leased focused displaying Christmas decorations everywhere on government property and focus more on their central focus of a Christian’s adoration: the birth of a savior. She is also appealing to people affiliated with the government and their religion saying how there should be a separation between church and state. The rhetorical element that sticks out most in this piece is ethos. Melanie speaks about herself especially concerning her experiences with Christmas and what she enjoys most about the holiday. She is convinced that the government should not be celebrating Jesus’ birth and especially displaying Christian symbols. This argument is very effective one, concerning a mass number of people in the world today. Many people in the United States are Christians and many other are a hand full of other various religions. I believe the United States Government should not flaunt or decorate their property to the extent that they do now. I say this because I believe it does not separate the church from the state and is unfair to the religion and the people.

Rhetorical Analysis

I don’t believe there is a point to writing this song other than for entertainment. Looking at the argument within the song, “All we wanna do is eat your brains. We’re not unreasonable. I mean, no one is going to eat your eyes.” it doesn’t seem very convincing. I don’t care how many times a zombie sings that to me to try to make me feel better (emotional appeal) either way I am going to be terrified. It seems that the argument they are trying to get across is that since what they want to do is no big deal, Tom and the rest of the people should just let the zombies eat their brains. I strongly believe that the argument the zombies are trying to make with this song, only makes the people do exactly the opposite of what the zombies want them to do. Think about it, why would any one care if you eat their eyes if you have already eaten their brains.
